Presentation

The Impedance Spectroscopy School 2010 will take place at Universitat Jaume I, Castelló, Spain, 15 and 16 july 2010.
Two days of intensive training by means of selected lectures and hands-on experimental work on different aspects of impedance spectroscopy: a useful tool for materials, and device characterization. Strong emphasis will place on practical applications in photovoltaics and optoelectronic devices (dye-sensitized, organic, and hybrid solar cells, silicon solar cells, and organic light-emitting diodes). The course will covers the whole experimental process: from the design of experiments, set-up requirements, signal registering, to data analysis with special attention to computer-controlled instrumentation and use of software packages for data fitting and visualization.

Lectures and experiments

  • Basis of impedance spectroscopy
  • Operating device mechanisms: injection, transport, recombination and extraction of charge carriers. Equivalent circuits.
  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC)
  • Organic bulk-heterojunction solar cells (BHJ)
  • Hybrid, and conventional solar cells
  • Computer-controlled instrumentation programming
  • Software packages for data analysis and fitting. Parameter extraction.

Director of the School

Lessons and experiments will take place at the labs of the Group of Photovoltaic and Optoelectronic Devices, Universitat Jaume I, Castelló. Students will stay at the University Residence located in the Campus. Accomodation at city hotels can be arranged upon request.

The IS School will be held at the same dates as the "Festival Internacional de Benicassim" (FIB).
