Presentation

The IS School 09 took place at Universitat Jaume I, Castelló, Spain, 16 and 17 july 2009.
Two days of intensive training by means of selected lectures and hands-on experimental work on different aspects of impedance spectroscopy: a useful tool for materials, and device characterization. Strong emphasis was placed on practical applications in photovoltaics and optoelectronic devices (dye-sensitized, organic, and hybrid solar cells, silicon solar cells, and organic light-emitting diodes). The course covered the whole experimental process: from the design of experiments, set-up requirements, signal registering, to data analysis with special attention to computer-controlled instrumentation and use of software packages for data fitting and visualization.

Lectures and Experiments:

  • Basis of impedance spectroscopy
  • Operating device mechanisms: injection, transport, recombination and extraction of charge carriers. Equivalent circuits.
  • Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC)
  • Organic bulk-heterojunction solar cells (BHJ)
  • Hybrid, and conventional solar cells
  • Computer-controlled instrumentation programming
  • Software packages for data analysis and fitting. Parameter extraction.
