Presentation

You are invited to participate in the International Conference on Ordered 1 Dimensional Nanostructures for Photovoltaics, from 12 to 15 september 2010, in the island of Mallorca, Spain.

One-dimensional (1-D) ordered nanostructures, such as nanowire or nanotube arrays, offer directed charge transfer and facile separation of photo-generated charges. Such high surface area architectures present an intriguing opportunity for significant improvements in 3rd generation photovoltaic device efficiencies. This conference presents a forum for advancing knowledge in this key field, bringing together world-renowned experts dedicated to the synthesis, properties and photovoltaic application of ordered 1-D nanostructures.

Topics

The conference is dedicated to all aspects of photovoltaic 1-D nanoarchitectures, including their synthesis, properties and application.

  • Oxide (e.g. TiO2, ZnO, Cu2O) nanowire/tube array photovoltaics.
  • Si nanowire and carbon nanotube/fiber-based photovoltaics.
  • Radial nanowire/tube heterojunction photovoltaics.
  • Other 1-D photovoltaic compositions, such as GaN, GaAs, Cu2S, etc.
  • Charge injection, transport and recombination in 1-D architectures.
  • Novel 1-D organic, inorganic, inorganic-organic hybrid solar cells.
  • Novel materials (e.g. size-tunable quantum dots) for wide spectrum light harvesting in 1- D nanostructure based solar cells.

Important dates:

Deadline for abstract submission (oral talks): 14 june 2010
Early registration deadline: 25 june 2010
Sunday 12 september: Evening reception
Monday 13 - Wednesday 15 setember: Scientific Program

Venue

In the southwest of the island situated between Santa Ponça and Paguera, on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean Sea at the foot of the Tramuntana mountain range, lies the four star Hotel BlueBay Galatzo, with settlements such as Santa Ponsa and Paguera, a privileged enclave in which nature and the most modern tourist infrastructures are blended together.
Paguera, or Peguera, is a tourist area of Calviá, a leading European holiday destination. It is close to emblematic destinations like Portals, Santa Ponsa, Magalluf, Palmanova and Palma de Mallorca. This area is ideal for all sorts of sporting activities: water sports, golf, trekking or cycling, amongst others.
Furthermore, there is an endless list of leisure activities on offer in the area: bars, restaurants and beaches.
